FLOWERY BRANCH - The embattled Flowery Branch City Council may try again Thursday to adopt a budget for the fiscal year that started July 1.

Two council members have requested a meeting that night at six o'clock prior to an already planned work session.

The council late last month postponed final action on the spending plan because of an ongoing rift between the city manager and mayor.

Last week, City Manager Chris Rainwater unveiled an adjusted budget proposal which slashes $300,000 from the original document and includes a 50 percent reduction in the proposed tax rate hike and a 50 percent reduction in new discretionary water and sewer rates.

Rainwater has already removed a controversial $10,000 a year pay raise for himself.
