LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Jenny Pfeiffer, who in 2004 left Kentucky's women's basketball team, transferred to Louisville and then left that program too, will return to Kentucky, coach Mickie DeMoss said Tuesday.
Pfeiffer, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard from North Vernon, Ind., will be a junior for the Wildcats and is immediately eligible. During her previous two, injury-plagued seasons at Kentucky, she started 28 games and averaged 11.1 points per game.
Pfeiffer missed a large portion of her sophomore season after contracting mononucleosis. As a freshman, she broke her left, non-shooting hand during practice.
When Pfeiffer left Kentucky, she cited burnout, DeMoss said. But Pfeiffer soon enrolled at Louisville and committed to play for the Cardinals. Then, in mid-September, she again changed her mind and left Louisville.
A statement issued by Kentucky on Tuesday did not address the transfers.
``After taking a year off I feel 100 percent ready, mentally and physically, to return playing the sport I love,'' Pfeiffer said in the statement. ``... I hope to pick up where I left off my sophomore year.''
