LEESBURG, Ga. (AP _ A 21-year-old Lee County commissioner has been charged with obstructing an officer, furnishing alcohol to a minor and allowing youths to be disorderly at her house.

A Lee County grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday against Commissioner Jo Ealum, one of the state's youngest county commissioners. The panel also indicted her younger sister, Susie, on one count of possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person.

Deputies said they discovered underage drinkers at the Ealum's mobile home early on the morning of Nov. 1. Susie Ealum was 20 at the time.

Jo Ealum was elected to the commission last July. Officials say the misdemeanor charges will not prevent her from continuing to serve on the commission.

In a report on the incident, Lt. Jim Wright of the Lee County Sheriff's Department wrote that Jo Ealum had been combative and that her sister had kicked at deputies.

Neither Jo nor Susie Ealum was listed in the Leesburg phone book. Their father, Darrel Ealum, said the commissioner was out of town and unavailable for comment.

"We're going to have a detailed statement to make early next week," he said. "Jo is being attacked and it's wrong. There's lots of errors in the police reports."
