Ripken group buys minor league team in Georgia

BALTIMORE - The Ripken Baseball Group, which owns the Aberdeen Ironbirds, on Monday announced the purchase of the Augusta (Ga.) Greenjackets, a first-year Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.<br> <br> Ripken Baseball, which represents the business and philanthropic efforts of Cal Ripken Jr. and Bill Ripken, will assume full operation of the Greenjackets on Oct. 1.
