BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) LSU basketball point guard Tack Minor has been suspended for the summer and fall semesters for an academic violation, the school says.
The suspension means that the Tigers will not have an experienced point guard until after the fall semester ends in December. Minor, a junior from Houston, violated the University's Code of Student conduct, university officials said.
``There are certain academic standards at LSU, which will not be compromised, and as the coach at LSU, I am going to enforce those standards without exception,'' coach John Brady said in a news release. ``Tack has improved in many ways since he has been at LSU, but sometimes as coaches we encounter disciplinary situations concerning our student athletes that must be made.''
Minor, who started all 30 games for LSU last season, averaged 10.8 points and 4.5 assists.
``I take full responsibility for my actions and I am sorry that I let down my family, teammates and coaches and LSU fans,'' Minor said in the release. ``I am going to come back ready to help this team, and I am more dedicated than ever to getting my degree from LSU.''
