TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Toney Douglas, a freshman last year at Auburn, has transferred to Florida State.
Douglas will sit out the 2005-06 season, but will have three seasons of eligibility remaining, Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said Wednesday.
Douglas asked for and received his release from Auburn earlier this month after averaging nearly 17 points per game as one of the Southeastern Conference's top freshmen.
The freshman was not happy at shooting guard at Auburn and wanted to develop his skills as a point guard in anticipation of an NBA career.
The 6-foot-1 Douglas also averaged 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals last season.
