GAINESVILLE - Kit Dunlap, President & CEO of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, was honored as Business Woman of the Year at the ABWA Lake Lanier Charter Chapter's Sixth Annual Business Women's Luncheon.

Nominees for this year's Business Woman of the Year Award were Dunlap, Gainesville City Councilwoman Myrtle Figueras and Connie Hagler, Executive Director, Lake Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club.

The American Business Women's Association is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally. This is accomplished through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.

The luncheon, held at the Georgia Mountains Center, is the local chapter's annual event to honor a Business Woman of the Year in the Gainesville/Hall County community, with proceeds used for their Education Award Fund. Education awards are given each year to students in Northeast Georgia.

The keynote speaker at this year's luncheon was Dr. Martha Nesbitt, President of Gainesville College, and the 2004 Business Woman of the Year.

Dr. Nesbitt spoke to a group of 265 guests on Effective Leadership: The Feminine Advantage.

Other speakers included Janet Allison, ABWA's Atlanta Area Council Chair, and Kira Camille Brock, Lakeview Academy student, community volunteer, and 2005 Young Miss Atlanta Christian.
