Gainesville businessman Jim Syfan will replace Hatfield, who stepped down in March after more than two decades of service to the authority, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Board and Northeast Georgia Health System Board.
Syfan is the founder and CEO of Turbo Logistics. He has served on a number of community boards including the Hall County Planning Commission and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Transportation Intermediary Association, the Agricultural Transport Division of the American Trucking Association and the Georgia Motor Trucking Association. Syfan and his wife, Gloria, live in Gainesville and have two sons and five grandchildren.
James Brock, chairman, has been re-elected to the authority. Brock is president of Crystal Farms Inc. He is a board member of the United Egg Producers, the U.S. Egg Marketers and the American Egg Association. Brock lives in Gainesville with his wife, Frances; they have two children.
John Prien, Jr., P.E., J.D. was named to a new term. Prien is a retired civil and environmental consultant. He is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Nebraska, Florida and Georgia. He served as Regional Vice President of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) for the Southeast Region from 1990 to 1992. He lives in Gainesville with his wife, Joanne, and they have three children.
Jerry Shuler has been re-elected. Shuler is owner of Shuler's Great Outdoors in Gainesville. He has served as president of the Lula Elementary School's Parent Teacher Organization and vice president of East Hall Middle School's Parent Teacher Organization. He lives in Gainesville and has two daughters.
