Former South Carolina Olympian named to marketing post

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Dawn Ellerbe, a former NCAA champion and Olympian from South Carolina, has been named the school's director of marketing for Olympic sports.<br>

Ellerbe finished seventh in the hammer throw at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and was a 12-time USATF national champion. While at South Carolina, Ellerbe won four NCAA titles and five Southeastern Conference crowns. Ellerbe also won a gold medal in the hammer at the 1999 Pan Am Games.<br>

In her new job, Ellerbe will try to increase ticket sales and revenue in women's basketball, volleyball, softball and men's and women's soccer. Last year, Ellerbe worked at the school's Colonial Center where she worked on developing strategies for Hispanic marketing efforts.
