ORLANDO, FLORIDA - The Champs Sports Bowl will be played Dec. 27, the first time since moving to Orlando four years ago that the game comes after Christmas.<br>

``This is an exciting occasion in the development of this bowl,'' Florida Citrus Sports president George Nahas said Thursday. ``We anticipate better attendance and, in turn, higher economic impact for the central Florida community.''<br>

The Champs Sports Bowl, televised nationally by ESPN, will match up teams from the ACC and Big 12. Last year, on Dec. 21, Georgia Tech defeated Syracuse 51-14.<br>

Nahas added that with the Capital One Bowl, traditionally played on New Year's Day, Florida Citrus Sports can create a ``Football Festival'' between the two holidays.<br>

This coming season the Capital One Bowl will be played on Jan. 2, because New Year's Day falls on a Sunday.
