Florida 2, Vanderbilt 1, 13 innings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Matt LaPorta hit a home run in the 13th as Florida took the second game of its three-game series with Vanderbilt 2-1 on Saturday.<br> <br> LaPorta&#39;s home run, his 23rd this season, went over the left field wall with one out in the 13th off Jeff Sues (3-5), who took the loss despite giving up just one hit in 5 2-3 innings for the Commodores (34-20, 13-16 Southeastern Conference).<br> <br> Darren O&#39;Day (6-3) got the win for Florida (37-18, 19-10). O&#39;Day pitched five innings and gave up two hits. The Commodores got a man on with two outs in the bottom of the 13th, but Mike Pete earned his first save this season by getting Mike Baxter to pop out.<br> <br> Florida opened scoring with a run in the eighth, but Vanderbilt matched it the bottom of the inning off Baxter&#39;s RBI single.<br> <br> Vandy starter David Price struck out 11 batters and scattered two hits over seven innings but did not factor in the decision. The Commodores have not led in the first two games, and LaPorta has driven in five of the Gators&#39; six runs.<br> <br> The final regular season conference game of the season for both teams is Sunday.<br> <br> (Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press.
