<p>Andrea Lovejoy, editor of the LaGrange Daily News, was elected president Saturday of the Georgia Associated Press News Council.</p><p>Lovejoy, who had been the council's first vice president, succeeds Mike King, editorial board member of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.</p><p>The News Council also elected Kay Read, editor of The Albany Herald, as first vice president and Frank Sayles Jr., publisher and editor of The Tifton Gazette as second vice president.</p><p>The News Council is the governing body of the Georgia Associated Press Association, which is comprised of the daily newspapers in the state that are members of The Associated Press news cooperative.</p><p>The association elected four new members to the News Council: Kerry Klumpe, managing editor of The Brunswick News; Charlotte Atkins, editor of the Rome News-Tribune; Dwain Walden, publisher and editor of The Moultrie Observer; and Angela Tuck, public editor of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.</p><p>Re-elected to new three-year terms on the News Council were: Read and Jim Healy, executive editor of the Statesboro Herald.</p><p>Other News Council members are: J.K. Murphy, editor of the Gwinnett Daily Post; Sherrie Marshall, executive editor of The Macon Telegraph; Stayce Lee of The Courier Herald in Dublin; John Glenn of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; Elizabeth Adams, managing editor, The Augusta Chronicle; Jason Winders, executive editor, Athens Banner-Herald; and Susan Catron, managing editor of the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.</p>
