KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA - In a move that clears a logjam of utility infielders while adding depth to their bullpen, the Atlanta Braves traded backup second baseman Nick Green to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Thursday for reliever Jorge Sosa.

Sosa, 26, is a hard-throwing right-hander. He was 1-0 with a 3.18 earned run average with Tampa Bay this spring and is expected to assume a set-up role with the Braves.

Green, 26, hit .273 with three home runs and 26 RBIs for Atlanta last season.

The Braves had a logjam of utility infielders but now will have roster spots for both Wilson Betemit and Pete Orr. Before trading Green, there was not room for Betemit and Orr on the roster.

As a part-time starter, Sosa was 11-26 with a 5.17 ERA for the Devil Rays over the last three seasons.
