Teacher accused of showing students nude camera phone pictures

<p>A high school teacher was arrested after some of his students complained that he allegedly showed a nude picture of himself on his cell phone during class, authorities said.</p><p>Tyshon Byrd, a first-year social studies teacher at Lamar County Comprehensive High School, faces five counts of child molestation, said sheriff's investigator Chuck Ledbetter.</p><p>Seven students told authorities that the 23-year-old showed the picture, Ledbetter said.</p><p>Lamar County Sheriff's deputies arrested the Barnesville man at his home Wednesday afternoon.</p><p>Byrd has not been at school since Feb. 25. Schools Superintendent Dennis Chamberlain refused to comment on whether Byrd was still employed with the school system.</p><p>According to Georgia law, a person can be charged with child molestation when he or she does any immoral or indecent act to or in front of a child under the age of 16. If convicted, Byrd could face five to 20 years in prison.</p>
