Coach accused of helping high school player after rape charge

<p>Two high school students were arrested and a coach who allegedly helped them avoid police was reprimanded Friday in connection with the rape of a female high school student.</p><p>Lorenzo Keon Shine, 17, a football standout at Twiggs County High School, was arrested after a female student said he sexually assaulted her on campus Thursday after school.</p><p>Sheriff's deputies say they investigated the alleged victim's report and were planning to arrest Shine at school Friday morning when Coach Michael Warren allegedly gave his car keys to Shine and another student and told them to leave campus.</p><p>Sheriff's deputies set up a roadblock and arrested Shine and the 18-year-old student. Shine was charged with rape and both he and the 18 year old were charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana.</p><p>Both were being held at the Twiggs County Law Enforcement Center.</p><p>Warren was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive his vehicle. School officials say he has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.</p><p>"We have followed the normal procedures to just handle things, to make sure that none of our children will be threatened with that type of behavior anymore," said schools Superintendent Wanda West.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x28664a4)</p>
