Mays headed back to AAAA title game

DULUTH - Rashad Chase scored 24 points and Mays earned a chance at its second straight state championship, beating Griffin 58-54 in a Class AAAA boys semifinal Wednesday.<br> <br> Brandon Simmons added 15 points for Mays (28-4) in a battle of the last two AAAA champions.<br> <br> Mays will meet Tucker, a 75-71 winner over Sandy Creek, in the finals.<br> <br> Griffin (22-8), which won the 2003 title lead the entire way until Deandre Bray&#39;s jumper from the lane with 2:55 left gave Mays a 48-46 advantage.<br> <br> Griffin, which also won championships in 1993 and 1988, led 21-11 early in the second quarter, but Mays battled back and tied the game at 42 on Chase&#39;s 3-pointer with 4:58 to play. Jay Brown scored 21 and Randrick Coggins 10 for Griffin.
