CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) Matt Danford struck out the potential tying run twice in the ninth inning to lead North Carolina to a 6-4 win over Towson Tuesday.<br> <br> With one out and a Towson runner on third, Danford fanned the fourth and fifth hitters in the Towson order to earn his fourth save of the season.<br> <br> Bryan Phillips (2-1) went four innings and picked up the win for North Carolina (16-5, 2-2 ACC). He allowed one run on two hits and two walks and had five strikeouts.<br> <br> Mike Daniel went 2-for-3 with a two-run double in the fifth inning to give North Carolina a 6-1 lead. Jay Cox was 3-for-4 with three doubles and a run scored.<br> <br> Towson (8-7) took a 1-0 lead in the third as Casper Wells drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Jeremy Stifler, who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.<br> <br> The Tigers made it 6-2 with an unearned run in the sixth. Then Towson&#39;s Hans Falkenhan ripped a two-run home run to trim the Tar Heel lead to 6-4.<br> <br> In the ninth, Falkenhan reached base on an infield single and took second on a throwing error.
