Dan Rather Is Proof The Mainstream Media is Biased

The so-called independent report which admitted CBS and Dan Rather had fabricated the pre-election report about George W. Bush's National Guard service has, in my judgement, raised serious questions about the trustworthiness of ALL journalists. The report admitted mistakes may have been made, but insisted Dan Rather was not biased and that there was no political motivation in running the story. Some in the mainstream media, especially those considered liberal, complimented CBS for releasing the report, and supposedly taking actions to be sure this type thing did not happen in the future. CBS fired four staffers, but kept Rather. And yet, all sources admit the documents used to support the story were fake, that CBS had been trying to find something to pin on Bush for five years, and that CBS rushed to release the story before the election, knowing it would do damage to the Bush campaign ... even to the point they tipped off the Kerry campaign about it. Reading the report took me back to the book called "Bias", written by former CBS correspondent Bernard Goldberg, in which he pointed out the heavily liberal tilt of most mainstream media people. Despite studies which showed Washington's reporters were 89 percent liberal vs. seven percent conservative, the Washington media folks considered themselves to be middle-of-the-road. Bernie Goldberg came to the conclusion that most journalists reporting American politics are so liberal they have an automatic dislike for conservative viewpoints and conservative people, and report after report shows that they carry that bias into their reporting. The CBS/Dan Rather investigation is a whitewash, and its acceptance by the mainstream media has done severe damage to the American free press.
