Towns County holds off Athens Christian for state berth

WATKINSVILLE - The Towns County girls basketball team got by Athens Christian 49-41 Tuesday night in the Region 8-A Tournament to advance to the state tournament.<br>
<br>
The Lady Indians held off several late challenges to get the win.<br>
<br>
Towns will play top-seed Lakeview Academy in the region semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday at the Athens Academy gym.<br>
<br>
No. 2 seed Hebron Christian will take on host Athens Academy at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the quarterfinals and No. 3-seed Jefferson will play Social Circle in the other quarterfinal.<br>
<br>
The winners of the two games will advance to the state tournament and meet at 4 p.m. Friday in the region semifinals.
