The Tigers increased their lead to 60-46 with 7:38 left on Nathan Watson's runner down the lane before the Gamecocks (13-8, 5-5) rallied. Josh Gonner's 3-pointer capped a 16-4 run that pulled South Carolina to 64-62 with 1:56 left.
But Watson made a 3-pointer and after Gonner missed a 3, Daniel Hayles hit one-of-two foul shots with 59.3 seconds left.
Carlos Powell scored with 42.2 seconds left to cut Auburn's lead to 68-64, then Gonner scored on a layup to cut it to lead to 68-66. But that was as close as the Gamecocks could get as Young and Brown both made foul shots in the final seconds to seal the win.
