Belmont nips Mercer

MACON - Justin Hare hit three baskets in the final 28 seconds, the last with a half-second remaining, to give Belmont a 65-63 Atlantic Sun Conference victory over Mercer on Sunday.<br> <br> The Bears (13-10, 8-8) held a 63-59 lead before Hare went to work for the Bruins (11-13, 10-6). He hit a jumper from the lane with 28 seconds left and then scored the tying basket with 11 seconds to play.<br> <br> Missed free throws and a turnover by Ross Alacqua with eight seconds to play opened the door for the Bruins.<br> <br> Josh Goodwin scored 18 points to lead Belmont and Hare added 16.<br> <br> Will Emerson led the Bears with 15 points, Wesley Duke added 14 and Alacqua had 11.
