"We're asking for people who have various skills to volunteer to help us administer medicines in case of a mass casualty incident," says Dave Palmer, spokesman for Health District 2.
Palmer adds the District is beginning the effort in some of the smaller counties in the area.
"We've already had meetings in Franklin County and Union County," Palmer says. "And, we're beginning meetings soon in Hart County."
The health district has partnered with local county governments, hospitals and other organizations to develop plans to carry out the mandate.
