CHARLOTTE,NC - The Gwinnett Gladiators put 50 shots on the Charlotte Checkers net Wednesday night, but could only muster one goal in a 2-1 loss at the Cricket Arena.

The Gladiators lone goal came just 79 seconds into the first period off the stick of Mike Vigilante, to give Gwinnett a quick 1-0 lead.

The Checkers came back to score twice before the end of the opening period; that was all they needed for the win as both teams were unable to score in the second and third periods.

On Friday night, the Gladiators travel to South Carolina for a 7pm game, followed by a Saturday night game against the Grrrowl in Greenville, before returning home to the Arena at Gwinnett Center for a 4:05 pm game Sunday against the Checkers.

Friday and Saturday's games will be on wdun.com with bonus coverage on WDUN Newstalk 550; Sunday's game will be broadcast on WDUN beginning at 4 pm.
