DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NASCAR is hitting Robby Gordon Motorsports with a 25-point penalty for a rule violation at Daytona last weekend. The team also is being fined $50,000 because of an unapproved intake manifold on Gordon's Chevrolet during the initial race inspection. Gordon didn't make the starting lineup for the Daytona 500, so the driver has no points to deduct. Car owner Jim Smith had earned 31 based on qualifying results.

In all, NASCAR penalized ten Cup teams for violations at Daytona.

The Wood Brothers Racing team was assessed with four because of an unapproved spoiler adjustment found on the Ford driven by Ricky Rudd. He was penalized 25 points, Glen Wood lost owner points, crew chief Michael McSwain was fined, and crew member Marc Smith is suspended from NASCAR competition until March 31.

Crew chiefs for Dale Earnhardt Junior and John Andretti were each fined ten-thousand dollars for violations. Other crew chiefs were fined one-thousand dollars for more minor violations.
