<p>The chancellor-designate of the University System of Georgia:</p><p>NAME: Erroll B. Davis Jr.</p><p>AGE: 61</p><p>RESIDENCE: Madison, Wis.</p><p>CAREER PATH: Chairman and former CEO of Alliant Energy Corp., a Madison, Wis.-based energy holding company formed in 1998 through the merger of WPL Holdings, IES Industries and Interstate Powerhead. Davis stepped down as Alliant's CEO in July, but stayed as chairman. Davis had served as president and CEO of WPL Holdings from 1990 to 1998. He also was president and CEO of the Wisconsin Power and Light Co. from 1988 to 1990. His first job in the energy industry was with Wisconsin Power and Light in 1978.</p><p>ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Carnegie Mellon University; master's degree in business, University of Chicago. He is former chairman of the board of trustees for Carnegie Mellon University. He served on the Wisconsin System Board of Regents from 1987 to 1994.</p><p>BOARDS/COMMITTEES: Member of the boards of Union Pacific Corp., BP, PPG Industries Inc., Electric Power Research Institute, the Edison Electric Institute and the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Association. Also member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, the Department of Energy's Electric Advisory Board, the American Society of Corporate Executives, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Advisory Board.</p><p>HONORS: Davis was named this year as one of the Top 50 Blacks in Technology at the Black Engineers of the Year Award conference and was named one of 75 Most Powerful Blacks in Corporate America by Black Enterprise magazine. In 2002, Davis was recognized in Fortune magazine's list of the 50 Most Powerful Black Executives in America and became the inaugural inductee to the Wisconsin Council of Safety Hall of Fame. Davis received recognition in 2001 as an Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipient. In 2000, he was named one of Black Enterprise's top 50 Blacks in Corporate America.</p><p>FAMILY: Wife, Elaine, and two children.</p>
