DAHLONEGA - A jury in Lumpkin County has reached a verdict in the James Berry murder trial.

Sheriff Mark McClure says Berry, 22, Gainesville, was found guilty and received life in prison for running over and killing a Dahlonega man in March.

"Mr. Berry was charged with running down and killing Nicholas Rotunno (23)," McClure. "The is usual a 20 year sentence with the first chance for parole after 14 years."

He added Berry had five previous felony convictions.
