RABBITTOWN - It took 11 games, but East Hall boys basketball coach Joe Dix is beginning to like what he sees from his young but talented Vikings.

He definitely should after his Class AA No. 1-ranked team routed Class A No. 3 Southwest Atlanta Christian 89-63 Tuesday night at Valhalla.

"I'm a little surprised at the score because that is a good team," Dix said. "But we're starting to play the kind of defense I want to see out there. We started slow but once we got going I felt good about things. We're getting closer to where I want us to be."

The win also gave the Vikings their 26th straight win, tying a school record.

SACA (9-3) opened the game with a 7-1 run and then pulled out to a 22-12 lead late in the first quarter behind Georgia Tech signee Javaris Crittenton, who had eight points in the quarter.

But East Hall (11-0) behind Tennesse Tech signee Frank Davis and junior standout Walter Hill, went on an 18-2 run to grab the lead and never trailed again.

For the game both Davis and Hill finished with 30 points apiece, with Davis doing most of his damage in the third quarter hitting four of his seven 3-pointers for the game. Kenneth Wise finished with 13 points for the Vikings.

Crittenton and Danny Friend each led SACA with 22 points, but East Hall kept the shifty guard in check in the second half.

"Once Frank and Walter hit some shots that seemed to get everyone going. We knew Crittenton would get his points but I thought we controled things after the second quarter," Dix said.

East Hall led just 42-35 at halftime but used a 14-3 to start the second half to blow the game open. SACA never got closer that 20 in the fourth quarter.

NOTES: Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt was in attendance at Tuesday's game looking at Crittenton and at least one other East Hall player...The bother of Dwight Howard, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NBA draft - Jahaziel Howard - was suspended for Tuesday's game for violating team rules...The first quarter deficit of 22-14 for East Hall was the first time this season the Vikings trailed at the of a quarter.
