TORONTO (AP) Toronto has picked up power-hitter Troy Glaus in a multi-player trade with Arizona.
The Blue Jays also get minor league shortstop prospect Sergio Santos in the deal, while sending Gold Glove second baseman Orlando Hudson and pitcher Miguel Batista to the Diamondbacks.
Glaus gives Toronto some much needed punch in the line-up after leading Arizona with 37 homers and 97 r-b-i's last season.
Hudson's is a career .271 hitter, but his forte is defense. Batista had 31 saves last season in his first year as the Blue Jays closer.
Glaus is due to make ten-point-five (m) million dollars next season as part of the four-year, 45 (m) million-dollar deal he signed last December.
