VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) Quinton Day scored 22 points to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a 75-62 victory over Valparaiso as both teams opened Mid-Continent Conference play Tuesday night.<br>

Day was one of three UMKC players to hit 3-pointers during an 11-0 second-half run that gave the Kangaroos a 57-43 lead after which Valparaiso never came closer than eight points.<br>

Tim Blackwell scored 14 points for the Kangaroos, with Kalu Guasco scoring 12 and Dee Ayuba adding 11. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for UMKC (4-5, 1-0 Mid-Continent).<br>

Valparaiso (5-4, 0-1) took a four-point lead late in the first half before UMKC went on a 10-1 run to go ahead 34-29 at half time.<br>
<br>
Dan Oppland led the Crusaders with 19 points, followed by Ron Howard with 17 and Seth Colclasure with 10.<br>
