The Cobb County Health Department is advising as many as 100 students at Osborne High School to be tested for tuberculosis after one of their classmates had symptoms of the disease, Cobb schools spokesman Jay Dillon said Friday night.

Dillon said the immigrant student has been tested, but the results have not yet come back from health officials. He said anywhere between 50 and 100 students may need to be tested because they either shared classes or the same school bus with the student.

He also said a busload of students from a middle school in Griffin are expected to be tested. They didn't travel with the potentially infected student, but rode in the same school bus.

The school notified parents of the need for tests, which will be done next Tuesday.

Dillon said some of the family members of the student in question may have been traveling outside the United States.

The student's name, sex and country of origin were not disclosed by the school.

___

HASH(0x1cd9e54)
