Georgia DOT Commissioner Harold Linnenkohl said Friday APAC-Southeast, Inc. has been awarded the contract for the project, which involves a stretch of the road from Lake Ranch Court to Duckett Mill Road.
"APAC Southeast submitted the lowest of the three bids we received. I am happy to award the project based on that bid," Commissioner Linnenkohl said. "This project will have a lasting impact on transportation in Hall, Dawson and Forsyth Counties. It will improve transportation through the region and I am look forward to the day when this project is complete."
The projected completion date is December 31, 2007 and was bid at a cost of $29,577,198.22
Some of the features of the 3.24 mile long project include:
·Widening Dawsonvilel Highway to a four lane divided highway
·Aligning Sardis Road and Lynncliff Drive to form one new intersection with Dawsonville Highway
·Straightening and leveling Lyncliff Drive for approximately 1 mile
Russell McMurry, GDOT District Engineer explained, "Work could begin around the first of the year. The first stages of work involve the clearing of the right of way and adjusting existing utilities. Lane closures will happen later in 2006."
