Sellout crowd watches Gladiators beat up Florida Everblades, 5-2

DULUTH - The Gwinnett Gladiators used a sellout crowd of 11,355 and two goals from Steve Slaton to beat the Florida Everblades 5-2 on Friday Night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center to improve to 4-1-1 on the season.

Steve Slaton posted his first goal of the season 2:29 into the first period to give the Gladiators a 1-0 lead. Slaton walked down the left wing and jammed a loose puck in the slot past Florida netminder Craig Kowalski for the tally. Ryan Fultz and Pascal Pelletier picked up the assists on the tally.

Gwinnett pushed their leas to 2-0 on Slaton's second goal of the game beating Kowalski on a one timer in the slot. Working with Pelletier on a give and go, Slaton worked free in the slot where he set up to pick up the tally. Jeff Campbell also picked up an assist on the goal at 4:40 of the second period.

Florida got back into the contest with two 5-in-3 power play goals late in the second period. Martin Lojek posted his first pro goal on a slapshot from the right wing circle beating Sean Fields for the power play tally. Steve Saviano and Ryan Brindley picked up the assists on the power play goal at the 17:24 mark of the second period.

Less than a minute later, Brindley capitalized on another 5-on-3 power play opportunity beating Fields over the shoulder with a snap shot. Ernie Hartlieb and Martin Lojek added the assists on the tally at 18:16 of the second period.

Danny Eberly scored the game winnner 5 seconds into a Gladiators power play 3:31 into the third period. Brad Schell and Ryan Fultz picked up the assists on the tally.

Chris Durno and Troy Milam each extended their point scoring streaks to five consecutive games on the Gladiators 4th goal of the night. Durno ripped a feed from Milam past Kowalski at the 7:29 mark of the third period to give the Gladiators a two goal cushion.

Scott Mifsud rounded out the scoring with less than five minutes remaining in the third period beating Kowalski with a slapshot from the left wing circle eluded the netminder to the far post. Guillaume Desbiens and Steve Slaton picked up the helpers on the tally.

Sean Fields remained unbeaten in the win improving to 4-0-0 on the season while making 19 saves in the win for the Gladiators.

Gwinnett went 1-for-5 on the power play while the Everblades posted each of their goals on the man advantage.
