Smoke scare at Lanier Village Estates

GAINESVILLE - About 25 people were evacuated from the assisted living section of Lanier Village Estates Monday morning because of a smoke scare, according to Hall County fire investigators.<br> <br> Fire marshal Scott Cagle said the source of the smoke was a discarded cigarette and that personnel at the Thompson Bridge Road retirement community had extinguished the small fire before firefighters arrived.<br> <br> Cagle said the call came in about 10:45.
