Texas Tech Sputters but Beats Baylor 28-0

WACO, Texas (AP) -- Taurean Henderson ran for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and Cody Hodges threw for another as No. 17 Texas Tech overcame three terrible quarters for a 28-0 win over Baylor on Saturday.<br> <br> Texas Tech (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) is off to its best start since 1976 when the team went 8-1, and the Red Raiders have won 10 straight over Baylor (4-4, 1-4).<br> <br> The shutout was Tech&#39;s first since 2002 and its first ever in a Big 12 road game.<br> <br> The Raiders led 6-0 early in the fourth when Hodges found Robert Johnson in the middle of the field on a short pass. He shook off one defender before stiff-arming another and zigzagging down the field for a 50-yard score.<br> <br> Hodges then hit Bristol Olomua for the two-point conversion.<br> <br> Henderson had 69 yards rushing in the fourth and scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards. His second touchdown was set up by a 60-yard interception return by Antonio Huffman.<br> <br> Tech is bowl eligible for a 13th straight season, making the Raiders the only Big 12 team to be eligible in every year of the league.<br> <br> For the first 45 minutes, the Red Raiders looked like they were still reeling from last week&#39;s 52-17 loss to No. 2 Texas. The offense sputtered until the fourth quarter and Hodges, the nation&#39;s leading passer averaging 398.4 yards entering the game, managed just 266 yards passing. <br> <br> He was picked off twice in the first half, but recovered to throw for 104 yards in the fourth quarter.<br> <br> Baylor applied constant pressure to Hodges in the first half and he had as many completions (two) as interceptions in the second quarter.<br> <br> Hodges&#39; 22 completions and 266 yards were his fewest since he completed 25 and 227 against Indiana State. He only played half that game.<br> <br> Tech&#39;s points of the first half came on field goals of 33- and 47-yards by Alex Trlica. Saturday marked the first time since a 28-13 loss to Oklahoma on Oct. 2, 2004 that the Red Raiders hadn&#39;t scored a touchdown in the first half.<br> <br> Baylor had a chance to take the lead early in the third quarter when Shawn Bell threw what looked like a touchdown to Dominique Zeigler in the corner of the end zone.<br> <br> Officials ruled him out of bounds. The play was upheld upon review even though replay appeared to show his right foot landing in bounds before his left foot hit out of bounds.<br> <br> Baylor made a field goal but Tech was called for roughing the kicker and the Bears decided to go for it from the 2-yard-line. Paul Mosley was stuffed just short of the goal line and Baylor came up empty again after that play was reviewed and confirmed.<br> <br> Tech had just 139 yards and eight first downs at halftime and Hodges had 91 yards passing.<br> <br> Anthony Arline leaped high into the air to grab one of Baylor&#39;s two interceptions on the 32-yard line as Hodges threw under heavy pressure in the second quarter. Baylor wasn&#39;t able to convert though and had to punt it away.<br> <br> Bell was 13-of-21 with two interceptions for 127 yards before being replaced by Terrance Parks in the fourth quarter.
