AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Auburn dedicated the press box to former athletic director David Housel before Saturday's game against Mississippi.
Housel was Auburn's sports information director from 1981-94, then served as athletic director until he retired from the post in January.
It was named the David E. Housel Press Box in a pre-game ceremony. Auburn announced in September that it would name the field after former coach Pat Dye, who ran the program during much of Housel's tenure as sports information director.
``Coach Ralph Jordan taught me what it means to be an Auburn man, and Pat Dye taught me what it means to be a competitor,'' Housel said. ``That my name is being added to the press box in a facility bearing their names is more humbling that I can say. I am blessed, truly blessed and honored.''
Housel graduated from Auburn in 1969 with a degree in journalism and worked in the ticket office from 1970-72. He taught journalism at Auburn from 1972-80 and spent one year as an assistant sports information director before being promoted.
