CONWAY, S.C. (AP) Quarterback Tyler Thigpen ran for 112 yards and three touchdowns, including one for 77 yards, to lead Coastal Carolina to a 38-14 victory over VMI on Saturday.<br>

After a scoreless first quarter, Thigpen got the Chanticleers (7-1, 3-0 Big South) going with a 1-yard scoring run that tied things up at 7-all. Coastal scored on its next four possessions including Thigpen's 20-yard TD pass to Jerome Simpson to take a 31-7 lead in the final period.<br>

Thigpen closed Coastal Carolina's scoring with his 77-yard touchdown run in the final period. The Chants finished with a season high 315 yards rushing.<br>
<br>
VMI (3-6, 2-2) was held to 39 yards rushing on 35 carries. Keydet quarterback Jonathan Wilson was sacked six times.<br>
<br>
Coastal Carolina won its record eighth straigth Big South game, breaking the old league mark of seven set by Gardner Webb over the 2002 and 2003 seasons.<br>
