Man gets 100 years for raping 12-year-old girl

<p>A man has been sentenced to 100 years in prison after being convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl.</p><p>A Pierce County jury convicted Bryant Lee Gilyard of rape, statutory rape and aggravated child molestation Friday.</p><p>By imposing consecutive sentences of 20 years each for rape and statutory rape and 30 years each for two counts of child molestation, Superior Court Judge Dwayne Gillis said Gilyard, 28, will remain behind bars for at least 60 years.</p><p>"Under the Serious Violent Felony Statute, he's not eligible for parole for 60 years," said Chief Assistant District Attorney George Barnhill who prosecuted the case.</p><p>The crime occurred June 8, 2003, when the victim, now 14, was spending the night at the home of her aunt and cousins, Barnhill said.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x2868214)</p>
