Savannah State falls to 0-17

SAVANNAH - Michael Williams scored 22 points and scored the basket that gave Bethune-Cookman the lead for good early in the second half as Wildcats beat winless Savannah State 73-64 Monday night.<br>

The Tigers fell to 0-17.<br>
<br>
Four-and-six Bethune-Cookman took an early 8-0 lead and Savannah State failed to score until the 14:26 mark when Donald Carson hit a layup.<br>
<br>
But the Tigers trailed only 24-23 at halftime and took their only lead of the game at 25-24 on Josh Barker's layup in the first minute of the second half.<br>

Carson tied the score at 31 on a dunk before Williams' basket - followed by one by Diondre Larmond - gave Bethune-Cookman the lead for good at 35-31 with 16:36 left.<br>

Carson's free throw closed the gap to 37-34 with 14:49 to play before Antonio Webb's basket started a six-point run to extend the lead to 43-34, and Savannah State never came closer than a six-point margin after that.<br>
<br>
Larmond had 16 points for Bethune-Cookman. Carson led Savannah State with 18 points and eight rebounds.
