It's the 15th anniversary of the statewide program and in Gainesville, the seedlings will be handed out, on a first-come first-serve basis, at the Hall County Recycling Center on Chestnut Street.
But, one state official warns to be sure you take the ornaments off the tree.
"I have seen trees that look like they came right out of the house and into the collection point with all the ornaments and lights still on them," said David Moorehead of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service.
