Mills, Cagle to head legislative committees

ATLANTA - The dean of the Hall County state legislative delegation, James Mills, was named chairman of the House Banks & Banking Committee Monday night.

Two other House members from the immediate Gainesville area were also named to committee chairmanships.

Amos Amerson of Dahlonega will head the Science & Technology Committee and Ben Bridges of Cleveland was named chairman of the Retirement Committee.

Carl Rogers of Gainesville will serve as Vice-Chairman for Economic Development of the House Appropriations Committee.

The assignments were announced late Monday night by the new speaker of the House, Glenn Richardson.

Meanwhile, in the Senate, Renee Unterman of Buford was named to head the Senate Ethics Committee and Sen. Casey Cagle of Gainesville will chair the Finance Committee.
