ATLANTA - State Representative Stacey Reece of Gainesville is one of three Republican members of the House who will be ready to swoop down on committee meetings with the authority to vote the way the Speaker wants them to.

Glenn Richardson, the first GOP Speaker of the House in 135 years, calls them "hawks" and the idea is already coming under fire from some Democrats who say the move guarantees Republicans can win any dispute in committee.

For his part, Richardson is quoted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as saying "I hear them (the Democrats) crying" but he promises not to abuse the power.

The other "hawks" are Representatives Tom Graves of Fairmount and Representative John Lunsford of McDonough.
