Georgia Southern wins second straight

STATESBORO - Elton Nesbitt scored a career-high 39 points to lead Georgia Southern to a 92-88 victory over Appalachian State on Saturday.<br>

The Eagles (8-7, 3-2 Southern Conference) took a 45-28 halftime lead, aided by eight 3-pointers. Nesbitt connected on 6-of-9 from beyond the arc in the game.<br>
<br>
But the Mountaineers (6-8, 1-4) shot 60 percent in the second half and cut the lead to 91-88 with six seconds left on D.J. Thompson's 3-pointer. Thompson had 32 points.<br>

Derek Thomas scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Appalachain State. Jeremy Clayton had 16 points and Chris McFarland added 12.<br>

Jean Francois had 19 points and seven rebounds for Georgia Southern. Donte Gennie scored 12. Terry Williams had eight assists.
