Banks to have surgery, could be out for year

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - University of Tennessee receiver James Banks will undergo knee surgery Friday and could miss the entire season, coach Philip Fulmer told The Tennessean newspaper.<br> <br> Banks, a former quarterback for the Volunteers, already was suspended for the first three games of the season by Fulmer for problems off the field.<br> <br> Tests revealed Banks has meniscus damage in his knee and doctors hope to be able to remove it. If they have to repair it, Banks could miss the season.<br> <br> Banks, a junior from Indianapolis, was Tennessee&#39;s leading receiver last year with 42 catches for 621 yards. He also was a possibility to play in the Vols&#39; secondary this season.
