No. 2 Statesboro runs over Swainsboro

SWAINSBORO - Statesboro senior halfback Nick Wedlow rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Blue Devils to a 20-6 win over Swainsboro.<br>

Statesboro (3-0) struck with big plays in the first half. With Statesboro leading 7-6, Wedlow scored on a 57-yard pass from David Cone. Wedlow added a three-yard touchdown run in the second half.<br>

Tigers (1-2) senior tailback Leon Williams scored on a three-yard run.<br>

Near the end of the third quarter the Devils marched down the field on a 12-minute drive that nearly ran the entire fourth quarter out. Statesboro didn't score on the possession but by the time the Tigers got the ball back with three minutes left, time had basically run out on Swainsboro.<br>

``We felt like if we just continued to pound, pound, pound, then by the fourth quarter, the advantage would be ours,'' Statesboro coach Steve Pennington said.
