No. 2 Statesboro runs over Swainsboro

SWAINSBORO - Statesboro senior halfback Nick Wedlow rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Blue Devils to a 20-6 win over Swainsboro.<br> <br> Statesboro (3-0) struck with big plays in the first half. With Statesboro leading 7-6, Wedlow scored on a 57-yard pass from David Cone. Wedlow added a three-yard touchdown run in the second half.<br> <br> Tigers (1-2) senior tailback Leon Williams scored on a three-yard run.<br> <br> Near the end of the third quarter the Devils marched down the field on a 12-minute drive that nearly ran the entire fourth quarter out. Statesboro didn&#39;t score on the possession but by the time the Tigers got the ball back with three minutes left, time had basically run out on Swainsboro.<br> <br> ``We felt like if we just continued to pound, pound, pound, then by the fourth quarter, the advantage would be ours,&#39;&#39; Statesboro coach Steve Pennington said.
