Hall native named to GDOT post

GAINESVILLE - A Hall County native has been named Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Area Engineer for Clarke, Jackson, Oconee and Walton counties.

Johnny Emmett, who now lives in Barrow County, will be responsible for "all construction projects and the general maintenance of all State Routes in his four county area...supervising over 100 people," according to GDOT District Engineer Todd Long.

Emmett has worked with GDOT since 1993. He began his career as a Maintenance Employee in Metro Atlanta. He was promoted to Engineer Technician and transferred to the Construction Division in the Gainesville District later that year. He worked his way through the Construction Division serving as an Inspector, Construction Project Manager, District Construction Estimator, Assistant District Construction Engineer and as Assistant Area Engineer for Construction.
