Weinhart rallies to win Georgia Open for the first time

<p>Tim Weinhart pitched in for birdie out of a bunker on the 16th hole to take the lead for good Sunday, then held on to win the Georgia Open for the first time.</p><p>He beat Kris Blanks by one shot and avoided a playoff when Blanks' approach shot on the par-4 finishing hole stopped inches from the cup. Weinhart closed with a 2-under 70 for a 281 total. Blanks shot71-282.</p><p>Ned Michaels had the low round of the day with a 67 at The Legends course at Chateau Elan and tied two-time winner Dave Schreyer (69) and Todd Peterson (70) for third, three strokes behind Blanks.</p><p>"It's a big monkey off my back," Weinhart said. "I finally won a major. I've lost the Atlanta Open in a playoff, and I lost this one last year in a playoff."</p><p>Third-round leader Craig Stevens ballooned to an 80 Sunday and finished tied for eighth with Chan Reeves.</p>
