Detention officer charged with having sex with inmate

<p>A former Glynn County detention officer has been arrested for having sex with a female inmate.</p><p>William Chancey, 25, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault against a person in custody and violating his oath of office, Glynn County Sheriff Wayne Bennett said.</p><p>Chancey is accused of having consensual sex with a woman on one occasion during the past few weeks. Bennett fired him Tuesday.</p><p>Chancey was released after posting bail. He had worked at the Glynn County Detention Center for about four years.</p><p>Sexual assault against a person in custody is punishable by one to three years in prison.
