As Buford kicked-off its season with a resounding win over Lumpkin County to tie Parkview's state record of consecutive wins at 46, it remained the unanimous choice for No. 1 in Class AA in this week's Associated Press high school football poll.

The Wolves hit the road with 24 returning seniors and nine starters this Friday in a Region 8-AA contest with Union County. Although Union won its first game of the season 8-0 in a weather called game against Towns County two week ago, last year's matchup resulted in a lopsided 49-10 Buford win. The other top two teams held steady with Charlton County at No. 2 and Early County in the No. 3 spot. Appling County failed to receive enough votes to remain ranked making way for Laney (2-0) to enter at No. 8

The top six positions in Class AAAAA remained the same with Camden County, Valdosta and Lowndes in the top three, respectively. Former No. 7 Newnan's 14-7 loss to Class AAA Carrollton paved the way for its exit and Marietta's entrance at No. 10.

Class AAAA membership continues unchanged with only one major realignment as last week's No. 4 Thomas County Central fell to No. 10. No. 1 Marist, No. 2 Statesboro and No. 3 Northside-Warner Robins stay at the top.

LaGrange continues to be sports writers' unanimous choice for No. 1 in Class AAA while No. 2 Shaw and No. 3 Thomson held steady as well. Carrollton moved up two positions to No. 6 tied with Washington County who slipped from No. 5 with lingering impressions of a 27-20 loss the Hawkinsville.

And speaking of Hawkinsville, they remain at No. 1 in Class A with Clinch County seeing a second week at No. 2. Pacelli Catholic moved up one position to No. 3 after a blowout 81-0 win over Stewart-Quitman. Bremen went from No. 10 to No. 6 this week with a 48-6 win over Eagle's Landing Christian and Commerce dropped four slots to No. 7 after 28-21 loss to unranked Franklin County.
