Report: Union General Hospital to double in size

BLAIRSVILLE - Union General Hospital is developing an 88,000 square foot addition more than doubling the size of the hospital from the current 72,000 square feet, according to Norton Native Illeligence Market Watch.

According to the Gainesville-based publication, a three story building will be built in front of the current facility, then the two buildings will be connected together.

Ground breaking is expected next month.

The estimated construction cost is $20 million. The total project cost, which includes equipment and furnishings, is estimated at $30 million.

NORTHEAST GEORGIA MEDICAL CENTER

Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville in May announced plans for $400 million in expansions and renovations over the next ten years.

The master facility plan maps the future of the hospital and its affiliated health system for the next 20-25 years, according to hospital officials.
