Bettman: NHL loses less money if no season

ATLANTA - NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in Atlanta last week that the league would lose more money by playing than it would canceling the next season. <br> <br> Bettman says the league needs a new labor contract. <br> <br> Officials have said the hockey league would lose $240 million during a season-long work stoppage, or it could lose $300 million if it plays under the old collective bargaining agreement. <br> <br> Players would lose $1.2 billion if the season is wiped out.
